This set of tools is for organizations looking to improve teamwork. The Framework will guide your use of the included teaming self-assessments, debriefings, and scenarios.
There are four toolkits associated with this tool. The toolkits are broken down in the following ways.
GENERAL RESOURCES
- Teaming for Safety and Performance Video - A five-minute video to educate individuals, teams, or leaders about teaming and the key behaviors. It can also be shown before any teaming discussion or debrief.
- COP Teaming Behaviors Framework - List of 19 behaviors needed for effective teaming, aligned under 6 competency categories.
- COP Teaming Survey - Tool to diagnose teaming needs, risks, and training opportunities.
TEAMING DISCUSSIONS
- Teaming Assessment and Discussion - A one-page tool a team/area can use to assess the team and make a few adjustments (stop/start/continue) with simple instructions for the facilitator.
- Teaming Self-Assessment and Reflection Worksheet - A one-page tool an individual can use to self-assess and adjust. It can also be used as a training exercise on being an effective teammate.
- Teaming Scenarios - A set of short scenarios that describe a situation that requires teaming, along with discussion questions that can be used to conduct a facilitated team training session.
QUICK DEBRIEFS
- End of Shift Quick Teaming Debrief Cards - A set of six cards, one for each teaming topic, Each has 2 or 3 questions that can be used to lead a 5 to 10-minute team debrief. They can be made into laminated cards.
- Shift Handover Rapid Debrief Card - Four questions to ask periodically at the end of a shift handover meeting to assess and enhance the handover process in under 10 minutes.
TRAINING MODULES
- Psychological Safety Briefing and Exercise - A module to enhance awareness and encourage people/teams to build psychological safety (slides, exercise, checklist, instructions).
- Teaming for Safety and Performance: Being an Effective Front-line Leader Workshop - A training module to teach front-line leaders how to promote effective teaming in their daily work (slides, exercise, handout, facilitator guide, evaluation form).
